Mission
Our mission is to improve the standards of teaching and learning in Pakistan by using digital technology. Since ABES is working on adult literacy for decades as an NGO in Pakistan, it is termed as mother of all NGOs by many.

History
Adult Basic Education Society (ABES) was founded by Vincent A. David in 1971. It has been registered with the Government under the Societies Registration Act 1860 and with the Central Board of Revenue, Islamabad as a non-profit organization. ABES works in collaboration with the government. It has been working on several initiatives along with UNICEF, including Child-friendly Schools, Joyful learning, Multi-grade teaching, and have worked in different provinces.
In 1993, ABES instituted its regional office in Rawalpindi and formed a section by the name of ABES Teacher Empowerment Center (TEC), which took the organization to new heights in a short span of time. Later in 2004, after taking in account the need of our literacy projects, ABESTEC gave birth to ABES Video Production Studio. It was found as an offshoot of ABESTEC to cater the needs of “distance education” through subject-based educational videos. The idea was initiated to enhance the effectiveness of our teachers’ training and students’ learning capacity.
As the video production studio expanded its capacity and in-house team, it began producing documentaries, short-drama films based on social issues, public service messages, fund-raising videos, and web-based content.

ABES won
a Gold medal by PTV for best presentation of 156 adult Literacy Programs for 6 years 1975-1980.
In 1984,
ABES pocketed the Honorable Mention Award and the NADEZHDAK KRUPSKAYA prize in 1991 from UNESCO Paris on International Literacy Day.
In 1993,
ABES instituted its regional office in Rawalpindi and formed a section by the name of ABES Teacher Empowerment Center (TEC).
In 1994,
ABES started working on MGT teaching, developed training manuals, training charts, and developed special MGT Teaching Kits.
The year 1999
gave a new dimension to ABESTEC when it blended the concept of Multi- grade Teaching and Joyful Learning with current educational needs.
In 2000,
ABESTEC rolled out the UNICEF global concept of Child Friendly Schools (CFSs) along with UNICEF in Pakistan.
In 2000,
ABES started working on Child Friendly Schools. Together with Ms. Wendy Griffin developed training package, special CFS Teaching Kit, and worked in 360 schools of AJK.
ABES collaborated
with UNICEF to develop a Teachers Training Guide on Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and School Safety to promote a “Culture of Safety”.
Later in 2004,
after taking in account the need of our literacy projects, ABESTEC gave birth to ABESTEC Video Production Studio. We have produced over 70+ productions including four teledramas.
In 2009 to 2011
LTST - Literacy through Skills Training Project of SLBAP - ABAD, ADB & Department of Literacy and Non-Formal Education). ABES developed Syllabus and Provided Supervision and Technical Backstopping. Project trained 13,800 women from 206 Union Council of 10 Barani districts of Punjab.

Undoubtedly, competitive and confident personnel make an organization stronger. ABES considers itself fortunate to have a team of professionals leading their respective departments with sheer brilliance. We have an in-house team of administrators and finance officers, educationists, trainers, IT specialists, film directors, graphic designers, video editors, content writers, and scriptwriters. Our central departments are as follow:
